You always hear about people migrating West to California, the land of milk and honey and all that jazz. Well 3 years ago after spending over 50 years in Southern California, when California started getting a bit rough around the edges and seemed to be losing it's luster we did some research and some traveling and saw that there might be some better alternatives elsewhere.
We were considering semi-retiring. We wanted to stay some place that was mostly warm, not completely isolated, had less pollution, less crime etc. We strongly considered Florida, Alabama, Texas, British Columbia and New Zealand.
We explored and researched for several years and finally made the change and moved to the Dallas Texas area.
So about 3 weeks ago they announce that Plano, Texas (which is about 20 miles from us) has been voted the best place in the Country to amass wealth. Then about a week later they announce that the Dallas metroplex has been voted the best place in the country for couples to live.
Then a few days ago Denton, Texas was found to be number 10 on the fastest growing cities in the country. We don't actually live in Denton but in an adjacent suburb and just share a zip code.
So here we thought we had our own little secret and now the whole World knows. Anyhow it is an awfully nice place to live for so many reasons and I sure hope it stays this way.

Above is the Denton County Courthouse built in 1896 on the square in Denton. It's kind of like Back to the Future up there.
